Who am I?

My passion, and the only thing I do, is employment law. Righting employment wrongs – getting justice – has been my professional mission since I graduated from law school cum laude in 2004, where I was Managing Editor of the Labor and Employment Law Journal. I then got my Master’s Degree in employment law at NYU. Before opening my own practice in 2011, I made it my business to learn how things really work from the inside, first as a clerk to a federal judge, and then at Littler Mendelson, P.C., the largest employment law firm in the world representing employers almost exclusively. I know how the judges think, and I know how employers think.

What makes me different?

I know how to resolve things informally when that is in your best interests.
If you have a meritorious claim, I’ll tell you, and I’ll be your champion. If you don’t, I’ll tell you that too.
New York City is a big place, but there is a small world of lawyers who practice employment law exclusively. Those lawyers also know that I don’t take a client unless I truly think you have been wronged. And if I can’t get justice for you informally, those lawyers know that I know what I’m doing when I get to court, because I’m not a lawyer who settles everything. The word often applied to me is “relentless.”
When it becomes necessary, I’ve tried cases successfully, I’ve successfully argued appeals in both federal and state courts, and I have no fear of the courtroom.
I’m good at puzzles on my kitchen table and at work. If you come to me for help unsure of what exactly happened and why, we will ferret out the truth together, and if I believe your employer has violated the law, we will get justice.
For most lawyers, there is no thing as bad publicity, and issuing a press release is pretty easy. I’m not a publicity hound. For you, it might feel good in the moment to see your name in the press as someone who’s been wronged, but that publicity may not be in your long-term best interests. With me, it is both your short-term and your long-term interests that come first, not mine.
You will know what is going on with your cases or dispute, because I make it my business to keep you informed. If you call me, I’ll call you back. If you text me, I’ll text you back. If you email me, I’ll email you back. If you need an explanation of what I’m doing or why, you will get one. If you need to make a decision, I will lay out the options for you, and give you my recommendation, but you will have control over your own destiny.

What do I do and not do?

What I do:

Represent employees who have been discriminated or retaliated against.
Help employees get their earned but unpaid wages/bonuses/commissions/severance payments/overtime.

Counsel employees who are struggling with a situation at work.
Help employees who are losing or have lost their jobs negotiate a severance agreement that is fair.
Counsel the employers who are trying to do the right thing, as they struggle to contend with the enormous range of legal requirements in the employment arena, by (i) helping them stay abreast of changes in the law; (ii) getting their policies, procedures and handbooks into compliance and keeping them in compliance; and (iii) working through complex day-to-day issues like requests for leave.
Conduct neutral investigations for sensitive workplace matters.

What I don’t do:

Take a case I don’t believe in.
